What is the
2nd Life Pakistan Acceleration Challenge?
The 2nd Life Pakistan Acceleration Challenge is a dynamic platform empowering startups and innovators to create impactful solutions for waste circularity. Focusing on industries like plastics, electronics, textiles, construction materials, food waste, and paper, the challenge supports both idea-stage and growth-stage enterprises in reimagining waste as a valuable resource. By fostering innovation, it aims to advance sustainable waste management and build a circular economy.
Who can
apply?
Eligible applicants must:
- Be residents of Pakistan.
- Be above the age of 18
- Idea-stage startups must present any proof of concept (POC) or technical plans that validate their idea.
- Growth-stage startups must demonstrate at least one year of operations and provide their financial reports, registration documents, and a comprehensive development plan.
- Women-led and minority-owned startups are strongly encouraged to apply.
- The startup must not engage in child labor or any unethical practices.

How do I
apply?

- Upload the necessary documents (e.g., CNIC, proof of concept/ financial reports, development plan).
- Submit your application before the February 15, 2025 deadline.
What is the
selection
process?
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee based on four key criteria:
- Innovation: Originality and creativity in addressing waste management challenges.
- Feasibility: Technical, operational, and financial viability of the solution.
- Sustainability: Environmental impact and the solution’s potential to contribute to a circular economy.
- Impact: Social and economic benefits, including job creation and community well-being.
After the review process, 30 startups will be shortlisted for the Acceleration Program, and the top 10 finalists will be invited to the Final Pitch Event in Islamabad.
What
happens
during the Acceleration Program?
The Acceleration Program, running from February 20 to March 20, 2025, is an intensive initiative designed to empower selected startups with the tools and insights needed to thrive. Participants will benefit from:
- Mentorship from industry leaders and experts.
- Webinars on sustainability, business modeling, and innovation.
- Networking opportunities with investors and global thought leaders.
- Tailored resources to refine business models and scale solutions.
This program ensures participants are equipped to transform their innovations into actionable, scalable solutions.
What are the
prizes for the
challenge?
Cash Prizes will be awarded to the top 6 participants of the challenge. Finalists will receive mentorship, enhanced visibility, and opportunities to connect with key industry leaders and potential future partners. Additionally, participants will gain access to valuable resources that can help them further develop and scale their innovations.
Do I need to
have a
registered company
to apply?
- Idea-stage startups are not required to have a registered company at the time of application but must present a proof of concept (POC).
- Growth-stage startups must be legally registered and have been in operation for at least one year.
What
industries
are eligible
for the
challenge?
Startups must focus on atleast one of the following industries:
- Plastics
- Electronics
- Textiles
- Agriculture
- Construction materials
- Food waste
- Paper
- Other Industries – We also welcome innovative solutions from industries beyond this list that contribute to waste circularity and sustainability.
The challenge aims to inspire innovative solutions that transform waste from these industries into valuable resources, promoting a circular economy.
Can I apply if
my startup is already
funded?
Yes, you can still apply if your startup has received funding. However, your financial performance and scalability will be considered as part of the feasibility criteria.
Can I submit
more than
one application?
No, each startup may submit only one application. Ensure that your application is thorough and highlights all aspects of your innovation.
What if I
can't
attend the orientation sessions?
If you are unable to attend the live orientation sessions on January 14, 2025, January 25, 2025 or February 07, 2025 don’t worry! We will record the sessions and make them available on our website and social media for you to watch later.

- For Idea-Stage Startups:

- For Growth-Stage Startups:
- Documentation: Upload your financial reports, registration documents, and any other official paperwork.
- Development Plan: Provide a comprehensive development plan that includes milestones, resource requirements, and timelines for scaling.
